Join The Catherine G. Murphy Gallery director Nicole Watson for a bus tour of Twin City homes designed by Minneapolis architects William Gray Purcell and George Grant Elmslie. Active in the early 20th Century, Purcell and Elmslie shared Frank Lloyd Wright's vision for home design, including long, low roof lines with deep eaves, a varied integration of structural forms and a unified system of decoration. The afternoon will conclude with a visit to the Purcell-Cutts house in Minneapolis. Designed by Purcell and now owned by the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, participants will have an opportunity to see an interior expression of progressive design.
Participants will meet in the Derham Hall Parlor at 12:45. The bus departs promptly at 1 p.m.
