Art for the Mission: New Acquisitions

Art for the Mission: New Acquisitions from the St. Catherine University Fine Art Collection (2015-2025) features artworks acquired for the St. Kate’s Fine Art Collection (FAC) over the past decade. This exhibition explores three different themes represented by these artworks: the FAC’s Commitment—and Re-commitment—to the Mission; Our Collective History; and Notable Contemporary Minnesota Women Artists. The importance and role of St. Kate’s students engaging with, contributing to, and learning from the FAC, is also woven throughout the exhibit.

Art for the Mission: New Acquisitions from the St. Catherine University Fine Art Collection (2015-2025) features artworks acquired for the University's Fine Art Collection (FAC) over the past decade. The ‘mission’ in question is that of St. Kate’s—namely the University’s mission to educate women to lead and influence, to foster academic excellence, social justice, and holistic development for all students, and to empower everyone in our community to make a difference in the world through scholarly inquiry, ethical leadership, and compassionate service. This exhibition is an expression of our community built around these values, and as such, is divided into three themes: Commitment—and Re-commitment—to the MissionOur Collective History; and Notable Contemporary Minnesota Women Artists. The importance and role of St. Kate’s students engaging with, contributing to, and learning from the collection, is woven throughout the exhibit. As stewards, caretakers and curators of the collection, we have been intentional about growing it in ways that reflect the University's mission to empower everyone in our community to make a difference in the world through scholarly inquiry, ethical leadership and compassionate service.
